Ok, so I got a speeding ticket. I'm 19, am a Californian resident but got ticketed for doing 96 in a 65 zone on the highway. I took a drivers education class immediately the week after, but I have a court date next week on Monday, the violation is a 6 point traffic offense as per the ticket. I witnessed my neighbour's son damage my car (which was parked outside my house) due to snow but by the time I got out he had already gone. So I didn't get the chance to get his registration number. I've been trying desperately to get his parents give me his registration number and insurance details or ask him to get in touch with me and they are not willing to cooperate. They are not disputing the fact but they are not giving me the information. This morning he parked his car on his parents' drive. basically i think i will be driving around around 20 miles a day possibly 24 miles a day depending on traffic. If i times this by 5 it will be 100 miles a week or 120. if i times this by 52 for the whole year it will be 6240 miles driven a whole year. Someone hit my dad's car with no insurance?

So my dad was on his way home from work. At an intersection, he was waiting for the light to turn green, when suddenly someone hit him from the back, probably because the person didn't stop in time. So the person waved his hand to go somewhere to park and exchange information. Notice, no witness besides the two of them. Well, it was a crowded intersection and at dinner time, so no one stopped, and it's impossible to track any down. My dad was panicking, so he just followed the guy. Both exchanged legitimate information and drove home. When my dad got home, of course, it was past 8pm, so we couldn't call the insurance company. So we did all the paperwork the next day. It turned out, the guy's insurance had expired just 1 month before. We told the guy and he said okay and will pay by cash. My dad went to the autodealer and the price is about $4000. So the problem is now, we've been keep calling him and he doesn't pick up. He picked up the first couple of times, but now he doesn't anymore. We told him the price already. What should we do? Take him to court? I heard you don't get anything out of it. We have the guy's info, because his old insurance sent it. I took out an insurance policy with swinton Insurance they quoted me 250.00 I agreed to this amount. I have been driving for over 12 years with no claim made against my policy. Due to the way my previous insurer only counted 5 years no claims bonus insurance that is all they have a record plus three years I was with them. Because the new insurer uses 9 years no claims they now want me to pay an extra 22.00 I know on the one hand this is not a lot of money on the other hand I don't see why I should have to pay it. They are saying If I don't pay it they will cancel it and charge a cancellation charge does anyone know the legal situation whether I have to pay by law or not.

Diminished Value - Dealing with Car Insurance?

I was in an accident where someone side swiped me ($5.5k worth of damage). Their insurance company paid and I just got my car back (2007 Lexus IS 250 - 29k miles). I had just purchased the car 4 weeks prior to the accident from CarMax for $27k. Out of curiosity I went back to see what CarMax would give me and they offered $18k. my neighbor has digned my door about 30 times, i have paint from his door all over my car as proof he also stuck gum on my car and put ketchup on it, have no proof for the gum unless i get his dna, i have it in a baggy, crazy i know, but he will not give me his insurance, he tried to fight me, i called the cops, he came at me i told him 3 times to stay back, he was about 200 pounds thought he would take me out, hit him one punch to the head, stunned him walked off called police, they almost arrested me, but didnt made me shake his damn hand since we are quote neghbors, the first thing he said when i asked for his insurance was he iddnt do it and his car is nicer why would he, i drive a 2002 bmw 330ci a 45k dollar car he has a 2003 maybe lexus gs420 i think? it made no difference whos is nicer and that my inspection is out, i still hit him cuz he threatened to hit me and backed me up, how can i get his insurance info with his license plate, any inspector will do a pain analyst and see that the damage is on him, and if they ask for a swab of his cheek, it will match the gum that was stuck to my car paint, btw this guy didnt know me before this, he decides to park right in front of his house by my car which isvery close to the line on this side, rahter than park one spot over, i guess he thought since i was not driving the car and it was sitting for 2 weeks that he could damage it for inconveniencing him.... anyway how can i get his insurance besides demanding it or requesting it from cops?? can i call an insurance company and give them the licsense, i do not have insurance right now im broke which is why i need this fixed by him.

Why are my car insurance quotes so high (first car UK)?

OK, I passed my test last week so I've started looking at what cars to buy, and which ones have the cheapest insurance. I've tested lots of different comparison sites to get insurance quotes and most of them are around 4,000! To me that's strangely high for cars that are less than 1,000... The cars that I've had quotes for are Vauxhall Corsa's and Ford Fiestas, both 1.2L. A friend of mine insured a Golf 1.6 for 900 which was his first car, so I really don't get why my quotes are so different, especially as I'm looking at much cheaper cars. I've also tried using the sites that offer a telematics box which is meant to be considerably cheaper but it's still around the 4,000 mark for some reason. Is there any way I can get it cheaper without going onto my parents insurance?
